Located a 10-minute walk away from NoMa-Gallaudet Metro Station along the Red Line, Union Market is DC’s warehouse of all things delicious: bourbon bread pudding, oysters fresh from the shell, smoked barbecue pork, refreshing Burmese iced desserts and much more. The various smells and sights of delicious foods and thirst-quenching drinks are so intoxicating, each visit to Union Market leads to me giving into multiple cravings and diving bite-first into three plates of food. This weekend was no different, as I ventured to Union Market with a fellow foodie to satisfy his cravings for Arepa Zone’s assortment of Venezuelan sandwiches and my cravings for DC Dosa’s South Indian savory crepes. We definitely over-ordered, but with food this delicious, had absolutely no regrets doing so.

Yellow lentil dosa (savory South Indian crepe) with spiced potato and cauliflower filling, assorted chutneys and a side of sambar from DC Dosa
An assortment of food-related art from Marcella Kriebel’s pop-up shop
Outdoor ping-pong tables for foodies to enjoy the outdoors and build up their appetites
Pabellon arepa (shredded beef, queso fresco, sweet plantains and black beans) with salsa verda from Arepa Zone
Chillin’ with my gnomies with cold drinks at Suburbia, Buffalo and Bergen’s summertime airstream bar
